about me
My name is Ruth and I am currently doing an MA in Publishing at the Oxford International Centre for Publishing Studies based at Oxford Brookes University. I came to this straight from my undergraduate degree at the University of Birmingham where I did an BA in English and gained the accolade of Technology Editor for the student newspaper Redbrick. As you can see there is a booky theme to my story so far but that isn't all I'm about. I'm a book lover, yes, but I am also an avid amateur artist, a black belt in TaeKwonDo and a very enthusiastic, if not hugely talented, baker. I am hoping to pursue my booky beginnings, I am the daughter of an English teacher who is herself a daughter of a proofreader, and try and make my way into the world of publishing, blogging about my experiences as I go.
This isn't my first attempt at blogging and my previous efforts can be found at http://justreadabookinstead.blogspot.co.uk/ although I will be trying to import things I think are worthwhile to this new site.
I am on Twitter so you can follow me @Ruth_J_Bradley. I'm not the most prolific tweeter but at least I can promise not to clog your feed with updates on whether or not I am having a cup of tea. I am also on LinkedIn if you feel like looking me up and learning a bit more about the business Ruth.
And finally I just have to plug two other sites. First is the Redbrick website. I loved my time with these guys and I genuinely think they are an incredible student group, although I am obviously a bit biased.
Secondly is Peter Schofield's Reviews, an opera review site that I have helped set up and maintain. Peter and I have slowly built up this online archive of all his reviews and I have been teaching him how to use it and take over maintenance of the website himself. Bit niche, but the reviews are accessible for non opera fans and they might just inspire you.
