Penultimate day at Wiley and this picture sort of sums it all up really.

Day began as ever with the JSAP submissions then I moved onto finishing collating the results to the open access nursing survey.

Then I moved onto something new. I had to write an application to get the journal Zoonoses and Public Health classified under an additional category on the ISI database. I had to write up the aims of the journal and show how they align with the definition of the category and then include tables showing the citations in and of the journal. These tables show related journals and if they are categorised in the same category this would help the case for getting the journal into the new category. However, the data I brought up wasn't particularly convincing but my supervisor said that was ok.

I finished the day by finding referral information for a couple of health science

journals. We went for the non-Google list because the other one was literally just Google. It was interesting to see what sites were referring people to the journals and how Wiley were going to use this data to improve their search engine optimisation (SEO).

And for one last time we had a talk from one of the Wiley folk. Today was on digital marketing and what Wiley is doing to keep up with the ever evolving marketing landscape. The woman giving the talk mentioned a lot of things we had learnt on the course already and didn't have to explain a lot of the basic stuff, which made me feel all clever and like I had learnt something this semester.

The basic message of this talk was that you have to listen to your users' needs and make sure you cater what you're doing to your customers, taking special care to note cultural differences in content and use habits. And most importantly you have to measure your success so you can learn and adapt to make them better.

I learnt a lot today, again, and I am gutted that I've only got one week left but I'm going to make the most of it so watch this space.
